    Marumi DHG Super Variable ND2.5-500

The Marumi DHG Super Variable ND2.5-500 is especially suited for beginners and entry-level users new to variable ND filters.

    • Variable Neutral Density with 2.5x to 500x -Filter factor that provides 1.3 to 9-stop exposure reduction, equivalent to 0.4 to 2.7 optical density.
    • Water-/oil-repellent coating sheds water simply by the air blower. Nuisances such as sweat, skin crème, lotion, fingerprints, or compounded grease stains will be wiped off.
    • Anti-Reflection Coating sustains a low reflection
    • Knurling embedded on the lightweight frame enables easy and smooth handling
    • Made in Japan lamination technology, indurated by decades of technical succession.

Scale of the number of stops

Graduated density markings on the filter frame are added to indicate the levels of light reduction.

    - The first marking corresponds to a 1.3-stop reduction (ND2.5).

    - The second marking represents a 2-stop reduction (ND4).

    - Each subsequent marking indicates an additional 1-stop reduction in light transmission.

    X-pattern warning mark

A warning mark "X" indicates the density level at which the X-pattern becomes noticeable when using wide-angle lenses.

The X-pattern is an unavoidable phenomenon in all variable ND filters using polarizing films due to the fundamental principles of optics.

What is a Neutral Density (ND) filter, and why should you use it?

Have you ever found that your camera’s shutter releases much faster than you expected when shooting in very bright sunlight or over highly reflective surfaces like water?

Have you also noticed that, when shooting video, the motion blur isn’t as pronounced or “cinematic” as you would like?

By using an ND filter, you can reduce the amount of light entering your lens. This allows you to intentionally control your shutter speed and aperture (iris), even in bright conditions.
Even if you are not familiar with using slower shutter speeds or adjusting the aperture, an ND filter makes it easier to capture more artistic and creative photos.

    A Neutral Density (ND) filter allows you to;
    - reduce the amount of light reaching the image sensor or film without affecting color
    - maintain proper exposure in bright environments.

“Neutral” means that the filter does not change the colors in your image.
“Density” refers to the degree to which the filter reduces the intensity of light.

A high-quality ND filter only reduces the light entering the lens, without affecting the color, contrast, or sharpness of your images.
