    Marumi EXUS Lens Protect SOLID

The Marumi EXUS Lens Protect SOLID is an ultimate Lens Protection, engineered with hardened glass.

    • Made from German Schott Xensation hardened glass proven with a Vickers Hardness of 700Hv, seven times more durable than the conventional protectors
    • Advanced coating with twenty-two layers in total on both sides
    • Anti-Static Coating (ASC) prevents dust and dirt adhesion, allowing them to be easily blown off
    • Water- and oil-repellent coating repels water with just an air blower. Sweat, lotion, fingerprints, and grease wipe off effortlessly
    • ASC reduces the reflectance below 0.2% (420-680nm average, Typical Value)*
    • Glass thickness of 1.8mm enables enhanced lens protection, while simultaneously realizing a thin frame to avoid vignetting
    • Made in Japan, the best protective option for your precious lens

What is the benefit of using a Lens Protector?
Does it affect image quality? Why Lens Protector instead of UV?

A Lens Protector purely protects your delicate and expensive camera lens from dust, fingerprints, scratches —and most importantly—physical shock and impact, without compromising image quality.

Many photographers use UV filters primarily for protection. However, UV filters are designed mainly for ultraviolet light blocking. They do provide some physical protection, but this is secondary to their UV-cutting function.

If your goal is purely physical protection against damage and shock, we recommend a Lens Protector, especially with hardened glass. UV protection is valuable for lens safety in certain conditions. However, achieving equivalent optical performance and physical protection with a UV filter is more costly. UV filters are chosen based on shooting location and weather conditions.

Schott Xensation, 7X more durable glass

The EXUS Lens Protect SOLID represents the highest-grade protection filter in Marumi’s lineup, designed especially for advanced photographers using large-aperture lenses. It offers approximately seven times the strength of Marumi’s regular protection filters*, making it ideal for use in harsh environments such as mountain climbing or trail photography, where lenses are exposed to potential impact.

*Measured by Vickers hardness (Hv), a standardized method that quantifies the hardness of a material by pressing a diamond-shaped indenter into its surface and evaluating the size of the resulting impression.

This video demonstrates an impact resistance test using a hammer, clearly showing how much stronger the hardened glass is compared to ordinary filter glass.

Marumi’s protection filters also feature a 2.0 mm thick optical glass, whereas many other brands use glass around 1.0 mm thick. This design choice reflects Marumi’s uncompromising philosophy of “ensuring reliable lens protection.” The added thickness provides up to five times greater impact resistance.

    Dust-free by Anti-static coating (ASC)

Unlike products that claim to be “dust-free” simply because the filters help keep dust off the camera lens, the EXUS Series, including EXUS Lens Protect Solid, delivers its dust‑repellent benefits through an advanced Anti-Static Coating (ASC) that works directly on the filter surface—helping to minimize dust adhesion far beyond simply protecting the camera lens. This significantly reduces the effort needed to keep your filter clean.

Typical Value in detail, 0.2% Reflection by Anti-static coating (ASC)

Unlike products that advertise “0.2%” without specifying the measurement range—often achieving that figure only at a single wavelength—the EXUS Lens Protect SOLID maintains an average reflectance of below 0.2% consistently across the 420–680 nm spectrum. This ensures advanced lens protection while preserving the full optical clarity and performance of your lens.

*COMPATIBILITY ISSUES WITH CANON LENS HOOD

    Question:
I have a Canon lens, but I can't attach the lens hood with the 95mm EXUS Lens Protect SOLID. What should I do?

    Answer:
If you purchase the following Canon lens and attach the included lens hood (EW-103 or ET-101), there will be compatibility issues with this filter. Please read the article linked and purchase a genuine lens filter produced by Canon.
